Community Supports Community

Choosing organizations to support financially, emotionally, and with longevity

In a high-political climate such as 2025, you may be asking yourself how you (or your business) choose what organization(s) to support?

Well, we’re so glad you asked.

As an avid supporter of the arts, community in general, and advancement in learning / creativity, we at 4621 Creative Solutions have some criteria we investigate when deciding if we’d like to lend our support to different endeavors.

Overall, we find fine and performing arts, humanitarian advocacy groups, those focused on social equality, and educational / youth advancement organizations “worthy” of support.

Oftentimes, these concepts are not-for-profits and put a large emphasis on aiding community members in different sectors.

In addition to what an organization does, we also look at:

  • Organizational structure (leadership, etc.) – is there diversity and equality throughout?
  • Business practices – are they ethical and fair?
  • Pay-it-forward – does the organization promote “good?”
  • Critical thought – do they challenge things they disagree with, but keep an open mind?

Heart and intent are great, but they only get you so far. You need to look inside an organization, at its structure, how it functions, how it presents itself, how it holds up in the community, and what its mission statements are to determine if an organization or endeavor aligns with your mission and vision.

Do you have someone in mind? Great!

There are options when it comes to giving time, funds, and support to other entities. With endless opportunities, here are a few that we enjoy:

  • Sponsor Art Events – art is healing
  • Provide in-kind marketing collateral (or proofread articles, provide materials, etc.)
  • Volunteer when possible – not-for-profits always need volunteers. Get involved.
  • Show up to events – sometimes just being present is support enough

No matter your beliefs, who you desire to support, or where your’re contributing money, it’s important to make sure you do your research before jumping in, head first.

Community building is important, and it takes time.
